ARTIST STATEMENT for LEE LAURITZEN
Lee Lauritzen The use of light and attention to detail are the essence of my realistic painting style. Inspiration for my paintings often originates from light filtering through ancient forest branches or shadows cast across buildings and people. The many moods of my paintings are created by the use of light, shadows, colors, texture, and contrast. Over the years I have developed a strong connection and appreciation for nature’s beauty. My knowledge of forest, wildlife, plant species, and ecosystem processes help me create “Natural Images”. This knowledge gives me the ability to paint fine art images of plants, animals, and landscape features that are technically correct. Whether I am painting snow capped mountains, prairies, streams, ferns, or feathers, attention to detail gives the viewer the feeling of “being there”.
ARTIST STATEMENT for CRAIGER LEE
I am a painter of nature micro realism. I use acrylic paints, usually on canvas/walls/murals. My paintings are my representation of a part of an experience that I had at that location. Using images in my mind, combined with photos, I come back to the studio in my home. There I create the same, or better, representation, feeling and connection to nature as I had when I was there. I also enjoy painting other people’s special places in nature.
My dearly departed Dad, Lee Lauritzen, a master painter of nature micro realism, was my mentor/teacher for over 10 years. He was my biggest inspiration with his art for my whole life.
Nature has been my passion to be in, experience, and connect with God. I try to capture the mood, feeling, and spiritually you get when you’re there. Nature is full of critters, usually hidden, look for the hidden critter in my paintings.
My goal is that others get the same feeling and serenity as they would if they were really there. Nature is so beautiful, I like to bring it into our homes.
My art is signed “CRAIGER LEE” in honor of my Dad.
